Geoff Glover took 8-6 & 7-34 in “B” Shires vs Ryde at Sutherland Oval – 15-40 in one day (day one washed out so one day match played on day two). These were the best match figures for the club until Devlin Malone took 16 wickets in 2015-16. The amazing thing about this achievement is that Ryde only had 10 men, so there were only 9 wickets available to be taken in each innings! Geoff’s first wicket in the first innings was caught and his last in the first innings was leg before wicket. The remaining 13 wickets were bowled. His recollection of the day is that there was a strong southerly wind blowing and Paul McCann (playing his first match for the club) was tearing in from the cemetery end. Geoff bowled his gentle hooping inswingers into the wind from the road end and the batsmen just couldn’t lay bat on ball!

He finished 14 short of the first grade record score of 335 by Victor Trumper, scored in 1902-03. Needless to say, this is the club record score for all grades, surpassing the previous record of 212no by Matthew Bradley in 1sts in 1999-00. The team score finished on 6/500 dec, also the club record team score.
