Devlin Malone took 6-42 in 1st Grade vs Hawkesbury at Glenn McGrath Oval, becoming the youngest player to take five wickets in an innings in 1sts for the club. He was aged 17 years 187 days, surpassing Nic Maddinson who was 18 years 97 days when he achieved the feat in the semi-final in 2009-10.

Daniel Rixon scored 272 (248 balls, 327 mins, 31×4 & 7×6) and Jamie Brown scored 172no (151 balls, 215 mins, 16×4 & 4×6) in 2nd Grade vs Hawkesbury at Owen Earle Oval. It was the second highest score in 2nd Grade history (behind 278no by a North Sydney player in 1904-05). It was the seventh highest score in all grades (four higher in 1sts & one higher in 3rds).
Daniel & Jamie put on 347 for the 3rd wicket in 215 minutes off 309 balls. It is the highest partnership for the club in all grades and the second highest partnership in 2nd Grade history (behind 357 for Northern District in 1988-89). It is the seventh highest partnership in all grades (five higher in 1sts).

David Murphy scored 125no off 57 balls in 1st Grade vs Manly-Warringah at Caringbah Oval. He reached his century off 50 balls, beating the previous record for the fastest century in 1sts held by Les Ritchie, who scored a century off 59 balls in 1969-70. It was also the fastest century in all grades for the club, surpassing David’s own record of 53 balls in 2nds the previous season. He hit 13 fours & 9 sixes and batted for 81 minutes. The team total was 1/185 off 18.2 overs!

Curt Harvey took 8-3 in 5th Grade vs University of NSW B at Tonkin Oval, the then best bowling figures in 5ths. Seven of his eight wickets were bowled, with the other being lbw. Uni were all out for 21, with Curt finishing the innings on a hat-trick. Following on, Uni were all out for 54 – Curt missed his hat-trick and then told the captain David Givney to give some of the other guys a go with the ball!
The previous week, our innings of 5/364 dec was highlighted by a whirlwind partnership of 207 unbroken in 90 minutes for the 5th wicket between 16-year-olds Greg Horner and Anthony Quinn. It was the highest partnership for any wicket in all grades at the time. Anthony came to the crease at 5/157, with Greg on 66no. He smashed 15 fours & 5 sixes in his 134no, beating Greg to 100! Greg finished on 133no with 14 fours. The winning margin was an innings and 289 runs – the most dominant victory in the club’s history!

In the second innings of his 1st Grade debut, Steve Smith scored 90 in helping to set up an outright win. Matthew O’Brien wrote in his 1st Grade team report for the annual report:
“Memorable moment – Smithy in his first 1st Grade game hitting a six then smugly blocking the next ball before the bowler challenged him to hit another six – so he did …. Even bigger!”
