Grahame Barry took 7-31 in Poidevin-Gray Shield vs Bankstown at Caringbah Oval – the best bowling figures in PGs for the club.

4 January 1985

Ben Connell took 4-63 in AW Green Shield vs Petersham-Marrickville at Caringbah Oval. It was a 60 over match – Ben bowled 30 overs straight from one end!

4 January 1989

Matthew Brennan took 9-32 in 4th Grade vs Mosman at Tonkin Oval.

4 January 2000

Glenn McGrath took 5-55 off 17 overs in the second innings of the 3rd Test vs India at the SCG, giving him match figures on 10-103. He won the Player of the Match award.

4 January 2013

Glenn McGrath was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame.

5 January 1982

John Dyson took his famous outfield catch in front of the old SCG Hill to dismiss Sylvester Clarke off the bowling of Bruce Yardley in the 2nd Test vs West Indies. John Dyson scored 198 in the first innings of the 2nd unofficial Test vs South Africa at Cape Town.

Glenn McGrath played his last day of Test cricket as the 5th Test vs England ended at the SCG. He took a wicket with his final ball in Test cricket.

Colin D’Arcy scored 166no in AWG vs Eastern Suburbs at Glenn McGrath Oval – the highest score in AWG for the club.

Steve Smith scored 104 in the first innings of the 3rd Test vs South Africa at the SCG, his 30th Test century.

6 January 1967

Norm O’Neill scored 160 in the first innings of the Sheffield Shield match vs South Australia at the SCG.

6 January 1982

John Dyson finished the 2nd Test vs West Indies at the SCG on 127 not out – his highest score in Tests.

6 January 1989

Justin Kenny made his first class debut for NSW vs South Australia at Adelaide Oval, scoring 11.

7 January 1967

Steve Edmonds took 6-28 in “B” Shires vs Canterbury at Tonkin Oval – the youngest player to take 5 wickets in an innings in grade (aged 13 years 309 days).

7 January 1984

Phil Weatherall scored 173no in 3rd Grade vs North Sydney at North Sydney Oval No.2 – breaking Norm O’Neill’s record for the highest score for the club in all grades.

7 January 1998

Rodney Davison scored 169 in the first innings of the Sheffield Shield match vs Victoria at the MCG – his highest first class score.

Sutherland played New Zealand in a 40 over match at Caringbah Oval, a practice match for NZ as they travelled to Brisbane to resume the ODI series. It was the first time an Australian club team had played a touring international team.

Phil Jaques scored 144 in 1st Grade L/O vs Blacktown at Caringbah Oval – breaking Matthew Bradley’s record for the highest score in 1st Grade L/O matches for the club.

Shortly after, Matthew Hughston finished the innings on 155no – thus setting a new record for the highest score in 1st Grade L/O matches for the club.

Steve Smith scored 117 in the first innings of the 4th Test vs India at the SCG. He won the Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards.

8 January 2021

Steve Smith scored 131 in the first innings of the 3rd Test vs India at the SCG.

9 January 1985

Sutherland won the AW Green Shield, defeating Gordon at Hurstville Oval.

Rod Furner & Tim Cadden put on 255 for the 1st wicket in AWG vs M&S Western at Mona Park – the then record opening partnership for all grades for the club. The team total of 2/325 is the record score for AWG for the club.

Stuart Clark made his T20I debut for Australia vs South Africa at the Gabba.

10 January 1993

Justin Kenny scored 115 in 1st Grade L/O vs Hawkesbury at Benson’s Lane No.1 – the first century in 1st Grade L/O for the club.

Tom Doyle scored 180 in Poidevin-Gray Shield vs Northern District at Glenn McGrath Oval – the record score in PGs for the club.

10 January 2021
